Adeleke Advocates for Engineering Endowment Funds

On Thursday, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State urged the establishment of engineering endowment funds to drive national development. He made this call during a N150 million memorial endowment event for engineering development held at Obafemi Awolowo University, honoring the late Mr.

Michael Ponnl, a pioneer in Nigeria's industrial engineering landscape and founder of Miccom, Nigeria's first indigenous cable manufacturing company. Adeleke emphasized that the engineering endowment would promote academic excellence and support deserving students, thereby strengthening research and innovation.

He noted that no nation can develop beyond the depth of its knowledge system and highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between theory and practice. Bukola Adubi, daughter of the deceased, expressed that the endowment aims to encourage academic excellence and innovation among engineering students, providing resources to support outstanding individuals.

Prof. Simeon Bamiro, Vice Chancellor of OAU, stated that the endowment represents a visionary investment in engineering education and innovation.
