Adeleke Alleges EFCC Plans to Freeze Osun State Accounts

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed alarm over an alleged plan by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to freeze the bank accounts of the state government. This information was communicated through a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, on Tuesday in Osogbo.

Adeleke reported credible information indicating that the EFCC intends to freeze all accounts associated with the Osun State Government, as well as those of top government officials, which he argues would severely disrupt government operations leading up to the governorship election scheduled for August 15. He condemned the alleged plan as “the height of lawlessness” and asserted that the EFCC lacks the legal authority to execute such actions.

Additionally, Adeleke warned that this move could undermine the functioning of the government during a critical election period. His allegations follow a recent appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding violence and intimidation in the state, further escalating tensions as the election approaches.
