Adeleke Withdraws EFCC Lawsuit After Election Victory

Ademola Adeleke, the re-elected Governor of Osun State, announced that he has instructed the state’s Attorney General to withdraw the lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) concerning the freezing of the state government’s bank account. This decision was revealed during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics after Adeleke was declared the winner of the August 15 governorship election.

He expressed his readiness to move past political disputes, attributing his decision to President Bola Tinubu’s intervention, which included a directive to the EFCC to lift the account restrictions. Adeleke had previously criticized the EFCC's actions as politically motivated.

He also addressed concerns regarding the interrogation of his supporters by the EFCC, stating that his legal team would assist those affected. The governor emphasized his commitment to reconciliation and invited his main challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, to collaborate on state development initiatives.
