Adeleke Withdraws EFCC Suit After Tinubu's Intervention

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke announced that he has directed the state Attorney-General to withdraw the lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) concerning the freezing of the state government’s account. This decision follows an intervention by President Bola Tinubu, which Adeleke acknowledged during an interview with Channels Television.

He stated that he no longer wished to pursue the legal action, expressing satisfaction with Tinubu's involvement. The EFCC had previously restricted a state government account amid an investigation into the alleged mismanagement of approximately N11 billion in various funds.

Adeleke had initially described the restriction as illegal and politically motivated. He also addressed concerns regarding some of his aides being invited by the EFCC, asserting that they complied because they had nothing to hide.

Despite his support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, Adeleke confirmed he is not considering a return to the All Progressives Congress, having previously contested elections under that party before moving to the Peoples Democratic Party and later the Accord Party.
