Adeleke Withdraws EFCC Lawsuit After Tinubu's Intervention

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke announced the withdrawal of a legal suit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) concerning the freezing of a state government account. This decision was made after President Bola Tinubu personally intervened, prompting Adeleke to reconsider the case.

He instructed the Osun State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to discontinue the lawsuit, expressing satisfaction with the President's involvement. The EFCC had previously imposed a Post No Debit restriction on the state account as part of an investigation into the handling of approximately N11 billion, including Ecology Funds and Intervention Funds.

The EFCC claimed there were unusual money transfers from the account, which it described as "precipitate and unwarranted." Adeleke had initially rejected the EFCC's actions, labeling them unlawful and politically motivated, and had directed his Attorney-General to challenge the EFCC in court. He also commented on the invitations extended to individuals linked to his administration by the EFCC.
