Adeleke's Team Denies Secret Deal With Tinubu Over 2027 Support

Osun governor's campaign council rejects minister Keyamo's suggestion that endorsement of president was based on political agreement.

Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke's Imole Campaign Council has refuted suggestions that his backing of President Bola Tinubu's 2027 presidential re-election campaign stems from a covert political arrangement. Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council's spokesperson, offered this clarification on Sunday in response to statements by Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

According to the council, Adeleke's decision to support Tinubu's presidential aspirations originates entirely from an assessment of the President's economic policy initiatives and demonstrated performance. No secret understanding or reciprocal agreement existed prior to the governor's public endorsement, the statement asserted.

Keyamo's remarks, which commended Adeleke for winning his re-election as Osun governor, seemed to suggest some understanding between the two figures. Olajengbesi moved to dispel this implication, contending that the governor's position reflects a genuine appraisal of how well the administration has performed rather than transactional motivations.

The matter underscores growing scrutiny of political coalitions influencing Nigeria's 2027 electoral environment, as numerous political actors make early declarations backing incumbent officeholders. Adeleke's team has now formally stated on record that the governor's support operates independently from any negotiated advantages or under-the-table arrangements.
