Lookman Scores as Simeone Apologizes for Positioning

Ademola Lookman, a Super Eagles attacker, responded to Atletico Madrid's head coach, Diego Simeone, who apologized for using him in an unfamiliar center forward position during the initial matches of the 2026/2027 season. Lookman did not score in the first two games against Malaga and Villarreal, prompting Simeone's public apology due to the absence of Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sorloth.

However, Lookman made a significant impact by scoring in Atletico Madrid's 3-1 win over Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium. He scored with a low shot into the bottom corner while playing in his preferred left-wing position.

In an interview with ESPN, Lookman praised Simeone and his coaching staff, expressing his desire to continue developing under their guidance.
