Deji Adeyanju Demands INEC Remove Affected Candidates' Names

Human rights activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to promptly remove from its official portal the names of candidates impacted by a recent Supreme Court judgment regarding the Electoral Act. In a statement made on Monday, Adeyanju referenced Section 287 subsection one of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, which mandates that all authorities and persons must enforce Supreme Court decisions.

He insisted that INEC must update its portal and relevant records to reflect the Supreme Court's ruling, ensuring that all political parties and candidates affected by the judgment are included without selective application. Adeyanju emphasized that INEC should take necessary actions to align its operations with the Supreme Court's orders and the constitutional requirement for compliance.

He urged the commission to act swiftly to ensure full adherence to the Supreme Court's decision.
