ADSC Boss Urges Nigeria to Appoint Ambassador to South Africa

Oluwafemi, the boss of the ADSC, called on the Nigerian government to deploy a substantive ambassador to South Africa in a statement made on Saturday. This appeal comes against the backdrop of recurring attacks on Nigerian citizens in South Africa, where there is currently no substantive ambassador.

He warned that this vacuum could pose strategic risks at a time when tensions and vulnerabilities persist, affecting the safety of Nigerians abroad. The absence of an ambassador creates a strategic gap, as ambassadors represent national authority and help deter crises while engaging in defense strategies for citizens.

Oluwafemi urged the federal government to immediately deploy a substantive ambassador to South Africa and to summon the South African High Commission in Abuja for formal engagement regarding the safety of Nigerians. He emphasized that delays in response could weaken deterrence and embolden further attacks.

Additionally, he noted that the situation extends beyond South Africa, highlighting a troubling perception of Nigeria's treatment abroad.
