Power Outages Expected in Abuja and Abia State on Sept 6

On September 6, 2026, residents and businesses in parts of Abuja and Abia State will experience electricity disruptions due to simultaneous developments affecting the national power network. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has scheduled maintenance on the Katampe-Apo Lines 1 and 2 at the 132kV Apo Transmission Station in Abuja from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

This maintenance affects several areas, including Garki, Asokoro, Maitama, and key government facilities such as the State House and the Supreme Court. In Abia State, Aba Power reported a supply interruption due to a reduction in gas supply that led to the temporary shutdown of the Geometric Power Aba Limited generation plant.

Aba Power is seeking alternative electricity supply through the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading and the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, but the connection cannot begin until the National Independent System Operator completes the necessary technical processes. Aba Power has apologized to customers for the disruption.
