Nasir El-Rufai to Submit Himself to EFCC After Airport Arrest Drama

Following an airport arrest attempt upon his return from Cairo, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai is planning to submit himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja. El-Rufai's lawyer condemned the airport drama, questioning the security agents' actions.

The incident has raised concerns, with four individuals close to El-Rufai already arrested. El-Rufai's lawyer criticized the attempted arrest as a violation of his client's constitutional rights and an overreach of security operations.

El-Rufai has expressed his commitment to comply with the EFCC's invitation upon his return, scheduled for Monday, February 16, 2026.
