Protesters Demand Review of Nigerian Revenue Service Appointments

On Monday, a group known as the Coalition Concern Nigerian Citizens staged a peaceful protest at the headquarters of the Nigerian Revenue Service in Abuja, demanding a review of the agency's executive director appointments. The protesters gathered at the agency's entrance, preventing access to the premises, while security personnel, including the Nigeria Police Force, maintained order.

Comrad Amand and Msughter Solomon, representatives of the coalition, highlighted that the appointments allegedly did not adhere to the Nigerian Revenue Service Establishment Act of 2025, which mandates that positions rotate among states within geopolitical zones in alphabetical order. The coalition claims that certain states were bypassed in the appointment process.

This protest follows a previous demonstration held on February 16, which also raised similar concerns. The coalition intends to continue its peaceful protests until the relevant authorities address their issues, emphasizing the need for compliance with the law governing appointments.
