Coalition Plans Protests Over NRS Executive Appointments

The Coalition Concern Nigerian Citizens, led by Comrad Amand M. Solomon, has announced plans for a second phase of peaceful protests against the Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS) due to alleged violations in the appointment of executive directors.

In a letter dated March 2, 2026, addressed to the NRS chairman, the coalition claims that the appointments of five out of six executive directors breach Part IV, Section 17(1) of the Nigerian Revenue Service Establishment Act 2025. The coalition argues that the appointments do not comply with the alphabetical rotation principle stipulated in the law, specifically citing that Borno State was appointed to represent the North East instead of Adamawa State, and similar discrepancies for other states.

The group demands strict adherence to due process and expresses disappointment over the NRS's inaction following their initial protest on February 16, 2026. They plan to mobilize at least 100 delegates from five affected states for the protests starting March 9, 2026, and will remain until their demands are addressed.
