AGCOMS Academy Launched to Bridge Skills Gap in Agriculture

AGCOMS International Trading Limited announced the launch of the AGCOMS Academy in Abuja to tackle the shortage of skilled operators, technicians, and managers in Nigeria's agricultural mechanisation sector. CEO Mr. Chijioke Okoli stated that while significant investments have been made in agricultural machinery, the lack of trained personnel threatens productivity.

He highlighted that the effectiveness of expensive equipment relies on the competence of those operating and managing it. The academy aims to bridge this human-capital gap by providing practical technical and business skills to personnel in the mechanisation value chain.

The initial training programs will focus on tractor operators, technicians, and mechanisation-service entrepreneurs, with the flagship program, Mechanisation Enterprise Management, set to begin in November. AGCOMS has previously trained over 380 individuals in the sector and will adopt an industry-driven model for its training.

This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts by the federal government and private stakeholders to enhance agricultural mechanisation and food security in Nigeria.
