NASEMA Allocates N200M for IDPs in Nasarawa Communities

On Tuesday, Benjamin Akwash, the Director General of the Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA), announced that the agency has spent N200 million to assist internally displaced persons (IDPs) in four communities within Nasarawa State. This announcement was made during a press briefing in Lafia, where Akwash presented a stewardship report.

The agency's efforts are part of a broader initiative to rebuild lives across 13 local government areas in the state, specifically targeting communities such as Toto, Kadarko, Doma, Giza, and Mama Jibel. NASEMA is coordinating the safe return of individuals to their communities and implementing flood mitigation strategies in partnership with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The agency has distributed relief materials worth millions of naira to 3,000 households affected by windstorms, floods, and fire outbreaks. Additionally, NASEMA is training local emergency management committees across the 13 local government areas to enhance disaster response capabilities.
