AGN Lagos Mourns Nollywood Veteran Taiwo Hassan 'Ogogo'

The Lagos State Chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has expressed deep sorrow over the reported death of veteran Nollywood actor Chief Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who died on Sunday, August 23, 2026. In a statement from the AGN Lagos, the guild recognized Ogogo as a significant figure in Nigerian cinema, with a career spanning over three decades.

He was celebrated for his distinctive screen presence, commanding voice, and commitment to authentic Nigerian storytelling. Beyond acting, Ogogo was acknowledged as a mentor to younger practitioners and a strong advocate for Yoruba culture and Nigerian values.

The Director of Communications for AGN Lagos stated that his death is a considerable loss to the creative industry, highlighting his representation of excellence and integrity in Nollywood. The guild extended condolences to Ogogo's family, the national leadership of AGN, the Nollywood community, and his fans globally, while also indicating that plans for a tribute and funeral would be announced after discussions with his family and the national body.
