NANS President Mourns Veteran Actor Taiwo Hassan Ogogo

Taiwo Hassan Ogogo, a veteran Yoruba actor, passed away after a prolonged battle with stage four cancer. The news was announced by his daughter Kira in a live-streamed video on Sunday, August 23, where she appeared visibly distraught and requested urgent travel arrangements to attend his Islamic burial rites.

Kira had previously raised concerns about her father's deteriorating health, revealing that doctors had deemed chemotherapy ineffective due to the advanced stage of his illness. The family was exploring alternative treatment options as conventional methods had been exhausted.

Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, the president of the National Association of Nigerian Students, paid tribute to Ogogo, describing his death as a "very painful one." Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State also expressed his condolences, noting Ogogo's roots in Ilaro, Yewaland, Ogun State, and recognizing him as one of the most recognizable faces in Nollywood's Yoruba-language circuit.
