$1.3bn Proposal for Agro-Industrial Hub in Kano State

Al-Qaryah Agro Allied (AAA) has proposed a landmark investment of $1.295 billion for a Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the Hadeja Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA) to transform the Challawa-Goje Dam into Nigeria’s integrated Agro-industrial hub. The proposal was presented by the Chief Executive Officer of AAA, Abubakar Nagwamatse, who emphasized the project’s focus on utilizing the dam’s substantial assets, which include a capacity of 930 million cubic meters and a surface area of 10,000 hectares.

The initiative aims to implement nine integrated agricultural systems, including deep-water cage aquaculture, aquaponics, hydroponics, and integrated rice/fish farming. Additionally, it plans to establish a 150,000MT/gear feed mill and a 50-million fry hatchery.

This investment aligns with national food security goals and aims to create thousands of jobs for youth in Kano State while ensuring no disruption to the dam’s primary hydrologic and power operations.
