ASA 2026 Launches Grassroots Engagement in Iseyin

Agriculture Summit Africa (ASA) 2026 launched its program with a grassroots farmers’ town hall in Iseyin, Oyo State, on September 14, 2026, gathering over 300 smallholder farmers. This engagement aimed to facilitate discussions on climate-smart agriculture, market readiness, and the integration of digital tools in farming.

The initiative precedes the main ASA 2026 conference scheduled for September 15-16 and seeks to extend the dialogue beyond traditional conference settings to include the farmers central to Africa's food system. The theme for this year’s ASA is “Building the Next Superpower: Africa’s Food Power Play,” which will unite farmers, policymakers, financial institutions, investors, agribusinesses, development organizations, and innovators to explore how Africa can leverage its agricultural potential for enhanced food security and economic influence.

Dr. Olushola Obikanye, Group Head of Agric Finance and Solid Minerals at Sterling Bank, emphasized the importance of understanding farmers' experiences and challenges to foster productivity and resilience.
