Akwa Ibom Governor Eno Launches Model Healthcare Centre

On Sunday, during the 39th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno inaugurated a model primary healthcare centre in Ikot Osute, Oruk Anam Local Government Area. Represented by Unyime Idem, a member of the House of Representatives, Eno's initiative aims to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery and position Akwa Ibom as a destination for quality medical services.

The governor's investment is intended to reduce the capital flight associated with medical tourism, as Nigerians spend billions annually on healthcare abroad. Eno assured residents of more healthcare projects under his administration's ARISE Agenda.

Sunday Festus, the Chairman of Oruk Anam LGA, praised Eno for his people-oriented projects, including road construction and healthcare facilities. Ekem Emmanuel, the Commissioner for Health, stated that the model primary healthcare centres are designed to alleviate pressure on secondary and tertiary facilities, with 500 Oruk Anam indigenes enrolled in the state health insurance scheme.

Johnson Obosi, the Paramount Ruler of Oruk Anam, expressed support for the governor's efforts to enhance healthcare access.
