Akwa Ibom Governor Targets June 2027 for Hospital Completion

Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno stated that the Ibom International Hospital project in Uyo is expected to provide specialized healthcare services upon completion, targeted for June 2027. During a site inspection, Eno expressed confidence that the hospital would rank among the best in Nigeria and Africa.

He emphasized the project's significance as part of his administration's healthcare investment, highlighting the importance of early cancer diagnosis and treatment. Eno encouraged residents to enroll in health insurance schemes to alleviate the financial burden of medical expenses.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Ekem John, mentioned that the state government engaged 25 health-sector unions and 40 consultants to assess healthcare needs. The project team, led by Consultant Dr Teinye Isokariari, reported that construction is progressing across three major wings, with efforts to complete the project ahead of schedule.

Structural Engineer Mohammed Bita noted that the wings are being developed as independent projects to ensure timely delivery.
