Air Chief Addresses Misinformation Impact on Military

Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), expressed concern over the impact of misinformation, disinformation, and hostile narratives on military operations during the 2026 Directorate of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI) Annual Media Workshop held in Abuja. Represented by Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Yaro Abdullahi, the Chief of Policy and Plans of the Nigerian Air Force, Aneke stated that the current information environment is complex and poses challenges to public confidence.

He highlighted the importance of effective public communication as an operational necessity that contributes to mission success. Aneke urged Information Officers to act as strategic communicators, emphasizing their role in shaping public understanding, preserving institutional credibility, and reinforcing public trust.

He called for proactive communication with credibility and transparency to counter misinformation and manage crises effectively, aiming to reflect the professionalism and operational excellence of the Nigerian Air Force.
