CDS Oluyede Advocates Strategic Communication in Abuja

General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Defence Staff of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, reaffirmed the military's commitment to employing psychological and influence operations as strategic tools for conflict prevention, national stabilization, and sustainable peace. This statement was made during the two-day Defence Headquarters Psychological Operations Workshop held in Abuja from July 23 to 24, 2026, and was communicated by Major General Samaila Uba, the Director of Defence Information.

Oluyede, represented by Rear Admiral Abolade Ogunleye, highlighted the necessity of a coordinated approach involving various sectors of society to strengthen national resilience. The workshop, themed “Building National Resilience: The Role of Influence Operations in Conflict Prevention and Stabilization,” included participants from the Armed Forces, security agencies, government institutions, academia, civil society, and the media.

Recommendations were adopted to enhance Nigeria's national resilience through improved strategic communication and influence operations, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency collaboration and public engagement.
