Activists Demand Justice for El-Rufai's Detention

Aisha Yesufu, a prominent socio-political activist, alongside lawyer Deji Adeyanju and Paul Ibe, media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have voiced strong objections to the ongoing detention of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). El-Rufai has been held for alleged financial improprieties following an investigation by the ICPC, which began after he was initially detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Yesufu criticized the indefinite detention without trial, asserting that it undermines justice and the rights guaranteed by the constitution. Adeyanju echoed these sentiments, calling for immediate charges to be brought against El-Rufai, regardless of the allegations.

Ibe condemned the ICPC for not charging El-Rufai, accusing the commission of bias towards the administration of President Bola Tinubu. The activists demand transparency and adherence to the rule of law in the handling of El-Rufai's case.
