Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State initiated the distribution of 1,000 pregnancy kits to expectant mothers under the “Ibi Irorun” Safe Delivery Initiative. This program aims to promote safer childbirth and alleviate the financial burden of delivery on families.

During the launch, Aiyedatiwa, represented by his special adviser on health, Prof. Simidele Odimayo, emphasized the initiative's alignment with his administration's commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery. He noted that over 300,000 residents have enrolled in the state health insurance scheme, and more than 102 primary healthcare centers have been completed and equipped.

The first phase of the initiative includes 1,000 kits, each containing 13 essential hospital delivery items. Dr. Bosede Osamaye, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, highlighted the importance of the initiative in easing the delivery process for pregnant women.

Dr. Francis Akanbiemu, Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, stated that the kits would simplify childbirth and eliminate additional costs for women delivering in government facilities.
