Prominent Comedian Aiza Nwosu Shot Dead in Awka

Isaac Nwosu, a well-known comedian and media personality from Anambra, was killed by gunfire in Awka on Sunday, August 30, 2026. His body was discovered inside his Toyota Hilux vehicle, while another unidentified victim was found nearby.

Nwosu had shared a post on Facebook weeks prior, featuring an African riddle. Reports indicate that he was trailed by assailants in a tinted vehicle before the attack.

The Anambra Police Command confirmed the incident and initiated a manhunt for the suspects, believed to be three unidentified men in a silver Toyota Corolla. Items recovered from the crime scenes included ₦7,550 in cash and an ATM card.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga condemned the attacks, while CP Nnanna Oji Ama called the killings unacceptable and ordered a thorough investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department. Increased security patrols and intelligence operations have been implemented in Awka and surrounding areas.
