Nigeria's Road Network Ranks Second in Africa

According to the 2026 data from Global Firepower, Nigeria has the second-longest road network in Africa, measuring 195,000 kilometers. South Africa holds the top position with 750,000 kilometers of roadway coverage, while Nigeria ranks 28th globally.

Following Nigeria, Ethiopia ranks third in Africa with 180,000 kilometers, and Kenya is fourth with 161,452 kilometers. The Democratic Republic of Congo is fifth with 152,373 kilometers, and Tanzania sixth with 145,203 kilometers.

Other notable rankings include Mali in seventh with 139,107 kilometers, Algeria with 112,696 kilometers, Zimbabwe with 97,267 kilometers, and South Sudan with 90,200 kilometers. The figures, which reflect total usable roadway coverage, are part of Global Firepower's logistics ranking for 2026 and indicate a country's infrastructure maturity, providing access to industrial sectors, terminals, and ports.

Globally, the United States has the longest road network at 6,586,610 kilometers, followed by India and China.
