Kayinsola Ajayi Signs Professional Deal with Adidas

Kayinsola Ajayi, a 21-year-old Nigerian sprinter, has officially turned professional by signing a contract with sportswear giant Adidas. He announced this significant career move on Thursday, confirming that he will forgo his final year of collegiate eligibility at Auburn University after three successful seasons.

Ajayi expressed his gratitude on X, stating, “New era. I am grateful to God to finally announce that I am officially embarking on the next chapter of my journey—continuing my professional track and field career with Adidas.” Previously, he had signed a Name, Image and Likeness deal with Adidas in April 2025 while competing for Auburn.

Ajayi made headlines by breaking Olusoji Fasuba’s 20-year-old Nigerian 100m record with a time of 9.84 seconds at the 2026 NCAA Division I East First Round. He also won the NCAA outdoor 100m title, equaled his national record twice, and secured two Diamond League victories.

His successful year culminated in a bronze medal in the men’s 100m at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
