Ajibade Urges Super Falcons for Winning Start Against Malawi

Rasheedat Ajibade, captain of the Super Falcons and a forward for Atletico Madrid, stated that the team is determined to secure victory in their opening match of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) against Malawi on Tuesday night. Speaking at a pre-match press conference in Rabat, Ajibade expressed a positive mood within the team, highlighting their focus on winning their Group C opener at Stade El Barid.

She acknowledged Malawi's debut in the tournament and praised the growth of women's football in Africa. Ajibade stressed that while attractive football is important, the priority in tournament play is to secure three points.

She called on Nigerian fans to continue their support, which she believes is crucial for the team's success. Additionally, Ajibade urged stakeholders to create a supportive environment for female athletes, emphasizing that infrastructure alone is insufficient for the growth of women's football in Nigeria.

The Super Falcons enter the tournament as defending champions after a 2-1 victory over Tanzania in their final warm-up match.
