Akpabio's Aide Denies Promises of APC Tickets to Senators

Esem Eyiboh, the special adviser on media and public affairs to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, issued a statement on Saturday dismissing claims that Akpabio promised senatorial tickets to lawmakers who lost in the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries. Eyiboh characterized these reports as misleading and misrepresentative of Akpabio's remarks.

He clarified that Akpabio neither made nor authorized any promises regarding ticket guarantees for the Senate, emphasizing that the Senate President expressed sympathy for colleagues affected by the primary outcomes. Eyiboh reiterated Akpabio's commitment to the APC's leadership and the resolution of issues arising from the primaries.

He also noted that the final list of candidates would be released in accordance with the party's constitutional electoral guidelines. Furthermore, Eyiboh addressed concerns regarding legislative oversight of military operations, stating that Akpabio believes public probes into the armed forces should not occur while troops are engaged in counter-terrorism efforts.
