Akpabio's Aide Denies Claims of Promised APC Tickets

Esem Eyiboh, a special adviser to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, issued a statement on Saturday, denying reports that Akpabio promised automatic tickets to senators who lost in the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries. Eyiboh described the claims as false and a distortion of Akpabio's remarks.

He clarified that Akpabio neither promised nor authorized any assurances regarding automatic tickets for senators, emphasizing that the Senate President expressed sympathy for colleagues dissatisfied with the primary outcomes. Eyiboh stated that Akpabio assured that the APC leadership is already addressing concerns arising from the primary elections and that the final list of candidates will be released in accordance with the party's constitutional electoral guidelines.

He also noted Akpabio's commitment to due process and party discipline, asserting that the Senate President would not interfere with the party's independent processes. Furthermore, Eyiboh addressed Akpabio's stance on military scrutiny, affirming that it is not the right time for public probes into the armed forces amid ongoing security challenges.
