Akwa Ibom Governor Unveils N1.39 Trillion Budget for 2026, Prioritizing Growth Without Borrowing

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, presented a N1.39 trillion budget for 2026 to the State House of Assembly, emphasizing growth without borrowing. The budget prioritizes capital investments, with 75% allocated to capital projects and 25% to recurrent expenditure.

The budget aims to stabilize spending, curb inflationary pressures, and drive growth without resorting to loans. Governor Eno highlighted citizen priorities gathered from town hall meetings, with a focus on infrastructure, health, and education.

The budget also includes initiatives in agriculture, rural development, healthcare, tourism, and security.
