Akwa Ibom Governor Calls for Waste-to-Wealth Investors

During a media interaction in Uyo to mark his third anniversary, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno expressed the need for partnerships with potential investors to transform waste into wealth. He acknowledged the environmental challenges faced by the state, despite significant allocations to the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency.

Eno urged companies to assist in turning waste into a profitable resource, emphasizing the importance of educating the population on proper waste disposal. He also disclosed that his administration has delivered 1,348 kilometers of roads over three years, a notable achievement compared to the 2,700 kilometers completed by the federal government during the same period.

Eno cautioned against the indiscriminate dumping of waste and stressed that local governments have not awarded any road contracts, indicating a need for accountability in infrastructure development.
