Edo State Tops Medals at National Para-Powerlifting Championship

The inaugural National Open Para-Powerlifting Championship took place in Umuahia, Abia State, concluding with Edo State at the top of the medals table. A total of 51 medals were awarded, including 18 gold, 17 silver, and 16 bronze.

Edo State achieved six gold, two silver, and three bronze medals. Enugu State secured four gold medals, finishing second, while Abia State, the host, came in third with two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals.

Delta State recorded two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal, and Plateau State won one gold, three silver, and three bronze medals. Other states, including Oyo, Lagos, Kano, Osun, Ogun, Rivers, Imo, Kwara, and Katsina, also contributed to the medal tally.

Obioma George, the Abia State Director of Sports, praised Governor Alex Otti and Commissioner Nwaobilor Ananaba for the successful hosting of the event, emphasizing the championship's role in providing athletes with opportunities for competition and development.
