Stakeholders Reject New Ifa Consultation for Alara Stool

A coalition of stakeholders in Aramoko-Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government Area, has rejected the proposal for a fresh Ifa divination in the selection process for the vacant Alara of Aramoko stool. They assert that the Ifa consultation conducted on April 23, 2026, remains valid and should guide the emergence of the new traditional ruler.

This position was articulated in a communiqué following a stakeholders’ meeting presided over by Her Royal Highness Adekemi Sherifat Owolabi, the Regent of Aramoko-Ekiti. The meeting included community leaders, traditional chiefs, and representatives from various sectors, who called on the state government to facilitate the conclusion of the selection process through voting by the kingmakers, adhering to the existing Chieftaincy Declaration.

The selection process began with an Ifa consultation involving eight eligible princes, resulting in three qualified candidates. However, a subsequent voting round ended in a tie between two candidates, leading to an adjournment.

The Head of the Kingmakers, High Chief Oladiran Adebayo, reported that the government suggested conducting a new Ifa consultation.
