Ogun Monarch Urges APC to Resolve Governorship Dispute

Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, the Eselu of Eseluland in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to urgently address the ongoing dispute from its governorship primary. He warned that the conflict involving two Yewa sons, Hon. Semanko Abayomi Hunye and Senator Olamilekan Adeola, could embarrass the party and the region.

Hunye, who contested against Adeola for the APC governorship ticket, has challenged the primary results in court, claiming the process did not reflect his votes. During a housewarming ceremony in Obada Oko, Oba Akinyemi questioned how Hunye could score zero votes despite participating in the primary, suggesting the need for a dispute resolution committee within the party.

He emphasized the importance of resolving the matter internally while allowing the judicial process to unfold. The monarch also called for thorough scrutiny of all governorship candidates ahead of the 2027 election.
