Aramoko Ekiti Stakeholders Demand Kingmakers' Vote for Alara

In Aramoko Ekiti, stakeholders have asserted the necessity for kingmakers to vote in the selection of the next Alara of Aramoko Kingdom, opposing Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye's directive to consult the Ifa oracle again. The community convened to address the inconclusive selection process after the Alara stool became vacant on August 9, 2025, following the death of Oba Olu Adeyemi.

On April 23, 2026, eight eligible princes underwent Ifa divination, resulting in three candidates being recommended for further consideration. A subsequent voting exercise led to a tie between two princes, prompting an adjournment.

During a meeting on July 16, 2026, Afuye suggested another Ifa consultation, stating that no voting would occur after this step. The stakeholders, including the Regent Adekemi Owolabi and representatives from various community sectors, resolved that the previous Ifa divination results should be accepted as valid, advocating for the kingmakers' voting process to proceed.
