Alausa Urges NESRI Officials to Intensify Education Reforms

On Friday, during a Ministerial Deliverables Meeting in Abuja, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, instructed coordinators and officials of the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) to take greater responsibility and intensify efforts to meet the Federal Government’s education reform objectives. The meeting reviewed progress made over the past six months since the initiative's retreat in February, assessed completed projects, and evaluated pending assignments.

Participants identified obstacles to implementation and proposed solutions, agreeing to establish realistic deadlines for unfinished tasks. Alausa emphasized the importance of accountability and warned against complacency, stating that achievements should serve as a foundation for further progress.

He outlined that the NESRI reform program focuses on areas such as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), girl-child education, and tackling the out-of-school children challenge. Alausa reiterated the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to improving education through ongoing reforms.
