Alausa Urges NESRI Coordinators to Enhance Education Reforms

On August 7, 2026, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, addressed coordinators and officials of the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) during a Ministerial Deliverables Meeting in Abuja.

He emphasized the importance of taking full ownership of their assignments and sustaining the momentum of ongoing education reforms. The meeting served as a six-month review since the last NESRI retreat in February, focusing on verifying completed deliverables, reviewing pending tasks, establishing timelines for outstanding deliverables, and considering additional priorities.

Dr. Alausa stressed that the review was not for celebrating achievements but for assessing progress and identifying remaining tasks.

He commended the officials for their efforts and noted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's strong political commitment to education. The Minister reiterated the mandate to ensure every Nigerian child has access to quality education, highlighting the need for accountability and practical measures to resolve bottlenecks in the implementation of reforms.
