Nigeria's FG Steps Up to Resolve Jet Fuel Crisis

Aliyu Badaki, a representative of the Federal Tourism Association of Nigeria, announced that the Federal Government is intensifying efforts to tackle the jet fuel crisis impacting the aviation sector. The scarcity of jet fuel has resulted in astronomical ticket price increases, burdening passengers.

Badaki emphasized the need for a coordinated approach among stakeholders to protect the interests of the tourism and hospitality industry. He mentioned that the association is working to bridge policy dialogues with the government to ensure a harmonious relationship that benefits all members.

The situation is exacerbated by global health concerns, including outbreaks of hantavirus and Ebola, which the World Health Organization has warned could further impact travel and tourism. The Nigerian government, in conjunction with the aviation industry, is looking for ways to mitigate the adverse effects of the jet fuel scarcity, which is deemed a serious issue affecting the industry.
