Kwara PDP Spokesperson Remanded for Alleged Defamation

On Thursday, a Kwara State High Court in Ilorin remanded Olusegun Adewara, the spokesperson for the Kwara PDP, on two counts of alleged defamation against Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. The PDP criticized the remand, describing it as a politically motivated attempt to intimidate opposition voices and silence criticism of the governor's administration.

The party's statement, issued by its assistant public secretary Bashir Ashura, accused the state government of failing to address critical issues such as insecurity, unemployment, and economic hardship faced by residents. The PDP claimed that the administration has resorted to using state resources to harass and intimidate citizens who dare to speak against its shortcomings.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to defending democracy and the constitutional rights of citizens, urging security agencies and the judiciary to remain professional and avoid being used as instruments of political oppression against opposition members.
