Enugu APC Faces Mass Resignations Over Marginalization

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State is experiencing significant turmoil as several prominent members, including Ambassador Ejik Ez, the immediate past state public secretary, and Charl Ako, the former chairman of APC in Igbo Etiti Local Government Area, have resigned. Their departures stem from allegations of marginalization and undemocratic practices favoring new entrants over long-standing members.

Ez cited a lack of support for the 2023 senatorial campaign in Enugu North and noted that political appointments were not considered for them. Despite appeals to Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah for unity and support, no results were achieved.

Ako's resignation letter expressed feelings of being sidelined and treated unfairly, while Dr. Simon Attah also resigned, stating that the party's current direction no longer aligns with their values. The wave of resignations has raised tensions within the party, with some members reportedly considering a move to the African Democratic Congress.

Efforts to obtain comments from APC leadership in Enugu State were unsuccessful.
