Lekki Gardens to Build 200-Room Hostel at UNIPORT

Dr. Richard Nyong, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Lekki Gardens Group and an alumnus of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), announced his commitment to construct a 200-room hostel at the university. This announcement was made during a keynote lecture at the ‘Close-Out Ceremony/Public Lecture and Book Launch’ honoring the outgoing 9th Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill.

Nyong emphasized that the initiative aims to address the accommodation shortages faced by the university's student population. He expressed his long-standing friendship with Prof. Georgewill and his intention to extend this relationship to the incoming 10th Vice-Chancellor through this project.

In his speech, Nyong discussed the principles of leadership and the importance of giving back to one’s community. Justice Biobele Georgewill, the Chairman of the occasion and twin brother of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, praised Prof. Owunari Georgewill for his leadership during his tenure.

Prof. Georgewill reflected on his time at the university, stating he leaves fulfilled as his vision for the institution has been realized.
