Wike Allegedly Plans to Disrupt Amaechi Mother's Burial

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has raised concerns regarding an alleged plan by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to obstruct access to Ubima, the hometown of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, during the burial of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi. The ADC's State Publicity Secretary, Chizi Enyi, claimed that Wike had coordinated with Charles Wobodo, the Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, to hold a reception in Omagwa on Saturday, September 5, coinciding with the burial.

Enyi alleged that the event, which includes a wrestling competition, aims to restrict movement to Ubima. Despite these claims, Enyi asserted that the burial would proceed as planned, stating, “The mother of Rotimi Amaechi will be laid to rest and no matter what, nothing can stop it.” Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, who passed away at the age of 89, is to be honored with a funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Ubima, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at the family residence.
