Wike Schedules Event on Day of Amaechi's Mother's Burial

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is set to miss the burial of Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, the mother of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, which is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026. The funeral Mass will take place at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Ubima, starting at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at the family residence.

Wike has scheduled a civic reception for the same day at 12:00 p.m. at St. Martins Anglican Church in Omagwa, organized by Hon. Charles Wobodo, the Executive Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area. This decision comes amid visits from prominent political leaders and associates of Amaechi, who are supporting him during this time of mourning.

A wake-keeping and service of songs for Dame Mary Orduah Amaechi occurred on Friday at Corpus Christi Catholic Cathedral in Port Harcourt, attended by various dignitaries, including Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, who have expressed their condolences to the Amaechi family.
