ADC Chair Criticizes Wike for Insensitive Reception

On September 5, Felix Ekpendu, the Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Omuma Local Government Area, condemned Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for organizing a reception in his honor on the same day that Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi's mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, was being buried. Ekpendu described the timing and location of Wike's event as insensitive, particularly since it took place in Ikwerre Local Government Area, a political stronghold of Amaechi.

He argued that this action could exacerbate tensions between the supporters of the two political figures, whose relationship has soured over time. Ekpendu noted the significant political influence Amaechi had in Rivers State, stating that many politicians, including Wike, benefited from his rise.

He emphasized the absence of Wike during the condolence visits to Amaechi's family, highlighting the political history and shared background of the two men.
