Amosun Mourns Bamanga Tukur's Passing at 91

Ibikunle Amosun, the former Governor of Ogun State, expressed deep sorrow over the death of Bamanga Tukur, the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who died on Saturday, just three days shy of his 91st birthday. Amosun characterized Tukur as one of Nigeria's finest citizens and a great loss to the nation.

He acknowledged Tukur's extensive contributions to public service, politics, governance, business, and national development. Tukur's legacy includes his role as General Manager and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Ports Authority from 1975, his involvement in the New Partnership for Africa’s Development, and his tenure as civilian Governor of old Gongola State in 1983, Minister of Industry from 1993 to 1995, and PDP National Chairman from 2012 to 2014.

Amosun noted Tukur's recognition with the national honor of Commander of the Order of the Niger and the traditional title of Tafidan Adamawa. He extended condolences to Tukur's family and prayed for their strength in this significant loss.
