Atiku Mourns Elder Statesman Bamanga Tukur's Passing

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and Presidential Candidate, expressed his condolences following the death of elder statesman Alhaji Bamanga Muhammad Tukur, Tafidan Adamawa, who died on Saturday, September 11, 2026, at the age of 90. In a message shared on his official X handle, Atiku referred to Tukur as a distinguished public servant who held several significant positions in Nigeria, including his roles at the Nigerian Ports Authority, as Governor of the old Gongola State, and as Minister of Industries.

Atiku noted that Tukur was a champion of African enterprise long before intra-African trade became a popular topic. He emphasized that Tukur belonged to a generation that viewed public service as a duty rather than a reward.

Atiku prayed for Tukur's forgiveness and for him to be granted Aljannah Firdaus, while also extending condolences to Tukur's family, the Fombina Emirate, the Government and people of Adamawa State, and Tukur’s associates across Nigeria and Africa.
