Gbenga Daniel Reflects on Rivalry with Amosun at 70

During a church service celebrating his 70th birthday in Sagamu, Gbenga Daniel, who served as the governor of Ogun State from 2003 to 2011, discussed his political rivalry with Ibikunle Amosun, who succeeded him and served from 2011 to 2019. Daniel noted that their friendship deteriorated when Amosun contested against him for a second term in 2007, which he lost.

The rivalry peaked in 2011, leading to a long-standing feud characterized by allegations from both sides. Daniel humorously referred to Amosun as the "enfant terrible" of Ogun State politics and acknowledged their shared political journey.

He expressed happiness and fulfillment in his service to the state, stating he does not feel he served in vain. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including current Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Demola Adeleke.
