Amotekun Operative Killed While Delivering Ransom in Oyo

Robert Olorode, an operative of the Western Nigeria Security Network, known as Amotekun, was beheaded by kidnappers on October 21, 2026, while attempting to deliver a ₦500,000 ransom for his younger brother, Elijah Okeleye, who had been abducted in Kajola Local Government Area, Oyo State. Okeleye was kidnapped by armed men while returning from his farm.
Initially, the kidnappers demanded ₦15 million but reduced the ransom after negotiations. Olorode volunteered to deliver the ransom to secure his brother's release.
However, upon arriving at the meeting point, he was overpowered and killed by the abductors. Oba Jeremiah Oyeboade Oladosu, the traditional ruler of Ilaji-Oke, confirmed the incident, noting that Olorode acted as a private citizen rather than in an official capacity.
Local security and police have intensified efforts to locate the kidnappers, amid growing concerns about armed criminal groups in rural areas.
